At Wellington Imaging we use the latest digital technology to produce the highest quality x-ray images at the lowest possible cost.
By moving to digital we can view x-rays immediately and send results over our secure authorised internet to your referrer.

Musculoskeletal and General Ultrasound
Musculoskeletal and general ultrasound scans are performed by highly trained sonographers working under the supervision of senior radiologists.
You can be confident your scans will be reported by specialists. Ultrasound procedures are safe and cause no discomfort.
Some scans require preparation, please make sure you follow the instructions you are given when making your booking.

Pregnancy Ultrasound
Pregnancy scans are performed by highly trained sonographers working under the supervision of senior radiologists. You can be confident your scans will be reported by specialists. Ultrasound procedures are safe and cause no discomfort. If you qualify for free maternity care in New Zealand, most of our scans are free of charge to you.
For pregnancy scans up to 18 weeks you will need to have a full bladder. Empty your bladder one hour before the scan and drink 750mLs of water over the next half hour. Do not empty your bladder until after your scan.

Immigration Chest X-ray
Our Wellington clinic is part of the Onshore Panel Physician Network for Immigration New Zealand and Australia. This means we are approved to perform immigration X-rays.
You must bring your original passport with you to your appointment.

Ultrasound Guided Injection
Steroid Injection
Our radiologist uses ultrasound guidance to identify the exact spot for steroid injection into your joint or tendon (as opposed to ‘going in blind’).
In most cases, the needle used is very small so there’s no need to worry if you have a needle phobia.
Steroid injections are performed at our Wellington clinic.

PRP Injections
PRP Injections are performed at our Wellington clinic.
Using the patients own blood, specially prepared platelets are taken and then re-injected into the affected area under ultrasound guidance to ensure accuracy. The procedure takes up to 1 hour.
Do not take anti-inflammatory medications for one week before your injection.
General treatment plan for PRP and Matrix.
For injuries or tendinopathy, e.g. tennis elbow.
We recommend 3 injections 1 month apart. for best results.
For OA e.g. hip and knee, the aim is to improve symptoms and functions, and to delay surgery as long as possible.
We prefer MATRIX over STANDARD PRP.
We recommend 3 injections 1 months apart.
After the 3 injections, then depending on patients symptoms and functional status, we may advise maintenance by one injection every 6 months.

Pregnancy to 14 weeks / Pelvic & Kidney, Bladder, Prostate ultrasounds – You will need a full bladder. Empty your bladder one hour before the scan and drink 750mLs of water over the next half hour. Do not empty your bladder under after your scan.
Abdominal /Liver & Gallbladder ultrasound – You need to fast (i.e. no food) for 6 hours before the scan. You can drink water, black tea and coffee but no milk, sugar or juice. You can take medication as usual but if you must take your medication with food, you may eat 2 dry crackers.
Abdominal & Pelvic ultrasound – You need to fast (i.e. no food) for 6 hours before the scan and have a full bladder of water.
If you are having an x-ray you do not need to prepare, just turn up with your referral form.
You must bring your referral form with you, we cannot see you without this.
If you are seeing us for an Immigration chest x-ray you must bring your original passport with you, and an eMedical number (if you have one).
